Né à Berne, Suisse, en 1959. Vit actuellement à Genève.Au Brésil, il apprend la Samba, Bossa Nova, Batucada et le Choro, au Ghana le Highlife, Afrojazz, percussions et danses traditionnelles. Tournée au Ghana avec "Blay Ambolley", chanteur connu en Afrique de l'ouest. Il y vit pendant un an. Diplôme Swiss Jazz School à Berne. Il fait de très précieuses expériences au sein d' AVENTURE DUPONT, Trio qui tourne intensément pendant 10 ans (B, BENELUX, E, RFA, A, CH). De nombreux séjours à Paris avec d'innombrables sessions (entre autre avec Steve Grossman, Oliver Johnson, Alby Cullaz) et des concerts. Il y forme VINZ VONLANTHEN'S PARIS CONNECTION (feat. entre autre Marc Bertaux, Jef Sicard, Nene, Bobby Rangell, Etienne M'Bappé). Compose et joue la musique pour le "Theaterspektakel 1990" international à Berne. Il est sollicité entre autre par: YVES MASSY TRIO, BÄNZ OESTERS SNOW OF TOMORROW, BOX ROOM ORCHESTRA (Big Band experimental de J. Demierre und O. Magnenat), BATTAKI (performance de danse du Kuba) et du chanteur "nouvelle vague" JEAN BART. Enseigne à l'école de jazz de Saint Galle. "Et Vinz Vonlanthen tire de ses différentes guitares des sonorités les plus folles, les plus inattendues. Un véritable accrobate des cordes, il exploite chaque millimètre de ses instruments; toujours inédits, original, il surprent, il ravit." |

Born in 1959 in Bern. Actually he lives in Geneva.Long stays in Brasil where he sudies the Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro, Batucada, and in Ghana the Highlife, Afrojazz, african percussion and drumming and traditional dances. Ghanatour with BLAY AMBOLLEY, a famous singer in Westafrica. Diplome of the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, Switzerland. Important experiences with the trio AVENTURE DUPONT. The band is touring through Europe from 1984-94 and recorded 4 CDs. He stays in Paris for 4 years: many Sessions (e.g. with Steve Grossman, Oliver Johnson, Alby Cullaz) and gigs. He formes VINZ VONLANTHEN'S PARIS CONNECTION (feat. e.g. Marc Bertaux, Jef Sicard, Nene, Bobby Rangell, Etienne M'Bappé). He 's not only demanded as a guitarplayer, but also as a compositor: he writes for the classical guitarquartett EOS, for theaterpieces (e.g. international Theaterfestival 1990 in Bern,CH; Epopée de l'Europe, Berlin), filmmusics (e.g. Jean Tinguely museum) and dance (« invisible portraits » with Susanne Daeppen). Actually he's mainly touring with his quartet URBAN SAFARI, but also as a solist with many other bands and projects (e.g. YVES MASSY, SYLVIE COURVOISIER, JACQUES DEMIERRE). He's professor in the Jazzschool of St.Gallen.

Geboren 1959 in Bern. Lebt zur Zeit in Genf.In Brasilien lernt er Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro, Batucada, in Ghana Highlife, Afrojazz, afrikanische Perkussion, Congaspiel und traditionelle Tänze kennen. Lebt ein Jahr in Ghana. Ghanatour mit "Blay Ambolley", bekannter Sänger in W-Afrika. Berufsschulabschluss Swiss Jazz School in Bern. Wertvolle Erfahrungen mit dem Trio AVENTURE DUPONT, das von 1984-94 intensiv tourt (NL B, Oe, F, BRD, E, CH). Regelmässige, längere Aufenthalte in Paris: Sessions (u.a.mit Steve Grossman, Oliver Johnson, Alby Cullaz) und Konzerte. In dieser Zeit: VINZ VONLANTHEN'S PARIS CONNECTION (feat. u.a. Marc Bertaux, Jef Sicard, Nene, Bobby Rangell, Etienne M'Bappé). Komponiert und spielt Theatermusik zum internationalen Theaterspektakel 1990 in Bern. Zur Zeit wird er u.a. gefragt vom YVES MASSY TRIO, BÄNZ OESTERS SNOW OF TOMORROW, BOX ROOM ORCHESTRA (experimentelle Big Band um J. Demierre und O. Magnenat), BATTAKI (Tanzperformance aus Kuba) und dem nouvelle vague Sänger JEAN BART. Unterrichtet in der Jazzschule St.Gallen. "...und immer wieder entschlüpften die verrücktesten Töne aus den verschiedenen Gitarren von Vinz Vonlanthen. Jeden Millimeter des Instumentes weiss der Saitenakrobat zu nutzen, immer wieder neu, verspielt und virtuos."
